Colorado has one of the highest asthma rates of any state in the
country. But with proper diagnosis and treatment, people with asthma can
lead active, healthy lifestyles. I should know -- I have asthma. I ride
my bicycle and exercise several times a week. Having asthma doesnot
mean you cannot be physically fit; you just have to manage it. Your
doctor can help.
The Colorado Asthma Toolkit began in Eastern Colorado in 2007 and has allowed asthma specialists from National Jewish Health to bring expertise, primary care practices in order to successfully improve asthma diagnosis and treatment. The program has been extremely well received and has expanded to southcentral Colorado and the greater Denver area. Through knowledge of evidence-based guidelines and the understanding of the need for better asthma management in underserved communities, the CATP continues to evolve train more practices to provide the best possible care to their patients.
